Bio
Catherine Yoder is a lot of things. A double bassist, an electric bassist, an aspiring audio engineer, but she's more than her claims and credentials. She is her own unique individual who's trying to navigate this world the only way she knows how; filling each and every day with her passion for music. She's always eager to learn more about the thing that has compelled her since before she could remember and incorporate her personal spark into the mix to create something never before seen.

Music Credentials
2018- 2023 (two semesters per year)
Richmond Youth Symphony Orchestra
She has been a member of the three highest youth symphonies in the program (Camerata, Youth Concert Orchestra, and Richmond Youth Symphony Orchestra.) The Orchestra includes weekly rehearsals, frequent sectionals with members from the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, and three classical concerts over a two semester year. She was also accepted into the Honors Program through the youth program, which includes a small number of players from RYSO who participate in music theory and history classes, chamber music rehearsals, and guest appearances from RSO staff members, conductors, and musicians.

Sound Board/Mics Manager
She managed all sounds effects, microphones, and music on the sound board for the Hermitage High School Production of Clue (December) and the end of year Talent Show (May). She also plans on running sound board and mics for any upcoming productions in 2022-2023.

Berklee College of Music: Summer Programs Bass Workshop
She registered for a 3 day camp on electric bass on the Berklee College of Music Campus in Boston, MA. The camp included music lectures/classes taught by Steve Bailey and Victor Wooten, ensemble rehearsals with Berklee Bass Department Staff, and jam sessions in rock and jazz styles. She had an incredible experience getting to know the Berklee Staff, other bass students, and enjoying campus and city life. This camp would change her original view of the electric bass, and she will use her experience to change her playing for the better.

Belmont University: Strings Crossings Camp
She participated in a 1 week camp on double bass and electric bass. This camp included a symphony ensemble, a small group jazz ensemble taught by Belmont Staff, sectionals taught by Belmont Staff, classes like intro to looping and intro to strum bowing (taught by Tracy Silverman), and daily concerts performed by staff, students, alumni, and campers. The camp was different than most classical camps she had encountered in the past, in which Belmont incorporated classical and commercial styles into a 7 day event. The energy of Belmont is like no other, in which an entire camp seemed mesh together and create music unlike any way that she had before.

Richmond Folk Festival: Music Logger
As part of her community service requirements, She participated as a volunteer in the annual Richmond Folk Festival as music logger. Her position required her to log and record a number a live performances, in which the logs would be reviewed and eventually submitted to the Library of Congress. Although she only volunteered beginning in 2022, she has attended many folk festival events in the previous years as a spectator of incredible local live music.
